How to pick where to stay
- Book the base your resort actually feeds. In Tahoe especially, a place that looks close on a map can be on the wrong side of the lake or the wrong highway. Our resort-by-resort guides explain which towns work.
- Check parking and shuttles before you book. Some resorts need weekend parking reservations, and some lodging that markets itself as slopeside isn't walkable.
- Holidays fill early and cost 2 to 3 times more. If you're flexible, Sunday to Thursday nights are far cheaper.
